The new season of Fairlynch Museum Coffee Time Talks returns shortly and we have our usual eclectic mix of topics to entertain and educate on the first Wednesday of every month until spring next year.
It seems odd to be writing about Christmas and the Ice Age in Devon whilst we are experiencing an unprecedented heatwave. However, this is Budleigh Salterton and if you don’t like the weather just wait an hour or so and it will soon change. To start the season local artist Lynda Kettle will tell us the inside story of life designing the sets for some of our favourite BBC dramas. More details of the talks can be found on this website under 'EVENTS'. So put these dates in your diary… and we'll see you there! 2nd Sept Lynda Kettle: My Life in TV, thoughts on a career as BBC drama set designer. 7th Oct Brian Margetson: Ghost, Royals and Ferrymen 4th Nov. Becks Pearson: Women’s Land Army in Devon 2nd Dec: David White Christmas visitors 6th Jan 27 Chris Woodward: The Ice Age in the South West 3rd Feb. Robert Hesketh: The Pirates of Devon 3rd Mar Trevor Waddington: Budleigh’s own master architect William Hatchard-Smith 7th Apr TBA. (but it won’t be Flo Prialo!) . As always, the talks are in St Peter’s Hall, The Lawns, Budleigh Salterton, EX9 6LT. We meet at 10.30 for tea or coffee and the talks begin at 11. Despite constantly rising costs our prices remain the same for this year. £4 for Friends of the Museum and £6 for everyone else.
