Update 2025: Because of Coronavirus, Fairlynch did not open for the 2020 season and was open for only part of 2021. This resulted in a loss of entry fees and donations from visitors. Donations are therefore even more vital than before.

MUSEUMS DON’T MAKE MONEY!
Fairlynch Museum is owned and funded entirely by the Budleigh Salterton Arts Centre and Museum Charitable Trust - Registered Charity 306636. It is run entirely by Volunteers - there are no paid staff. The Fairlynch building is Grade 2 Listed by English Heritage. The upkeep and conservation costs of an early-19th Century thatched Cottage Orné in a marine environment are challenging!
The museum is fully Accredited by Arts Council England and operates to the same standard as National Museums such as the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, but without any assistance from the British taxpayer.
Donations are always very welcome. Gift Aid from HMRC can be claimed on all donations. However, donations greater than £30 require the name, address and postcode of the donor.
Running costs, which include gas, electricity and water, are estimated to be £50 a day. We therefore need to charge for the services we provide.
PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY
All donations, no matter how large or small, will support the museum charity.
