volunteering at fairlynch museum

Fairlynch is a friendly and inclusive charitable organisation that relies on its volunteers to help out in all sorts of roles.

Our volunteers share a belief in the value of local history and culture within our community and enjoy being part of a dynamic group with a mission to show off the very best heritage assets of our region to visitors of all ages, near and far.

about our museum stewards

If you enjoy meeting the public, you might like to become a steward at the front desk or in one of the exhibition rooms. Come for a taster session and keep coming back – some of our stewards have been dedicating their afternoons to us for many years and you would be most welcome to join them. These online TripAdvisor comments show how our visitors appreciate stewards:
Most interesting local museum.  Good displays particularly the new Walter Raleigh room. The volunteer staff very friendly and informative. Worth a visit just to have a chat with the staff.
Great small museum.  We found this little museum by chance following a visit to Budleigh Salterton.  It's well worth having a look round; there are lots of things to see.  The volunteer room guides are very friendly and knowledgeable and clearly love what they do.

If this kind of role interests you, please contact Christine Fry, Stewards Co-ordinator for a chat. We are a great team so come and join us!

Enthusiasts, Researchers and Experience welcome

If a back-room role appeals to you there are plenty of other volunteering opportunities whatever your previous experience, including cataloguing and research in fields such as costume, art, archaeology, genealogy and local history. You might have a useful skill such as model-making or graphic design.

If you’re a retired professional with experience to offer in museums, finance and fund raising, law, publicity, education, IT or buildings maintenance we’d love to hear from you. Contact us or come and say hello at one of our Coffee Time Talks.

Naturally we are keen to recruit new trustees. Please contact our Chairman if you think you can help.
